Why "Annie's Fund?"

Annie's Fund has been established to promote research and to procure equipment needed for teaching purposes to promote the advancement of veterinary rehabilitation.

Your support will help fund research in the field of rehabilitation by providing state-of-the-art equipment for the Small Animal Rehabilitation Service and contribute to the education of veterinary students and professionals about the benefits of rehabilitation.

Annie's Fund will also help those animals in need of rehabilitation services whose owners may have financial hardships that keep them from providing this essential care for their companion animal.

Annie undergoing rehabilitation

"Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital saved Annie. Virtually overnight, Annie had changed from an active dog who loved tangling with raccoons at our ranch to one who was paralyzed when we rushed her to A&M. Faced with an uncertain diagnosis, the staff started physical therapy right away. They tried everything they could think of, including acupuncture, aqua therapy and electro massage. There was even a cart for Annie that would hold her in an upright position. After six weeks of continuous rehab for the nerve damage, Annie came home where we continued outpatient visits to A&M several times a week. Annie's recovery was remarkable. At the end of four months Annie could stand and even walk on a leas. Her paralysis was gone. Thanks to the extraordinary commitment of the staff, with their innovative and progressive ideas for physical rehabilitation, Annie survived and thrived!"

About Annie

The development of Annie's Fund begins with the story of one determined patient.

Annie came to the Texas A&M University Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital on a referral from her regular veterinarian. Unable to walk when she arrived, she received a thorough examination and was diagnosed with a neurologic disorder that can be very difficult to treat.

After a discussion of Annie's condition between Texas A&M specialists and her human companions, she began her treatment with the Small Animal Rehabilitation Service in April and walked out of the hospital on her own in July.

Annie was a truly remarkable patient and she inspired many veterinary students and professionals at the College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences. Her determination to walk again helped promote the benefits of veterinary rehabilitation. Annie's Fund has been started to honor her and to give other animals like her the chance to make a similar recovery!
