Council on Diversity and Professionalism

The Council on Diversity and Professionalism (CDP) is a group of elected representatives from each veterinary class that works in conjunction with faculty, staff, graduate students, and BIMS undergraduates to promote an inclusive, respectful, and welcoming environment in the College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences.

We serve as a median to discuss current issues within the CVM that include but are not limited to race, ethnicity, geographical origin, gender, age, socioeconomic background, religion, sexual orientation, and disability. The committee hopes to foster a welcoming, respectful environment for all students, faculty, and staff. CDP encourages open dialogue about diversity and professionalism, but serves no disciplinary function with regard to perceived lapses in professionalism.

In an effort to create a welcoming and supportive environment to all students, the CDP can put you in contact with a student support person, should you so desire. The student support network consists of students who have self-identified as members of groups that may have unique needs or concerns. These students are available to help you in your transition into the CVM. Minority, GLBT, single mom, out-of-state, and married students are available.
