  • It is a placebo controlled study that is fully funded (no cost to the owner).

  • This study will evaluate how much the concentrations of certain molecules (NTproBNP and cardiac troponin I) change in the blood stream of dogs with chronic leaky mitral valve disease
  • Screening tests will ensure each dog is healthy, other than their heart disease
  • All screening tests will be paid for ONLY IF all eligibility requirements are met
  • This study is funded by the American Kennel Club (AKC)
  • Only 2 visits are required for the study, exactly 7 days apart
Eligibility

  • Willing to come to Texas A&M 2 times, exactly 7 days apart
  • No significant other diseases
  • Client pays for the exam fee (~$30)
  • if the patient qualifies for the study, then all screening tests are free
