Dr. Tiffany-Castiglioni carries out research on the neurotoxicity of environmental contaminants, particularly heavy metal toxicity to astrocytes. She has served as major professor for 19 PhD and MS students, three of whom have won the Texas A&M Association of Former Students Distinguished Graduate Student Award for Doctoral Research. She received the Texas A&M Association of Former Students Distinguished Faculty Award for Research in 1998 and the Distinguished Alumnus Award from the UTMB Graduate School of Biomedical Science in 2002. She is a recent past member of NIOSH Study Section SOH, a member of the Editorial Board of International Journal of Developmental Neuroscience and an Associate Editor for Neurotoxicology. She edited and co-authored a book, In Vitro Neurotoxicology: Principles and Challenges, published in 2004 by Humana Press.
