Welcome From The Dean

Welcome to Aggieland! Let me be the first to extend a warm Aggie
welcome to the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical
Sciences at Texas A&M University. From the nearly 500 students
in our DVM program to the 2250 students in our dynamic Biomedical
Science Program to the 150 outstanding graduate students involved
in quality research projects throughout the college, we are engaged
in preparing our students to meet the public and animal health
needs of the 21st century and beyond.
Our college was established in 1916 and since that time, we have
graduated over 6000 veterinarians. We are one of only 31 Colleges
of Veterinary Medicine in the United States and Canada. Texas Aggie
veterinarians proudly serve our state, our nation and indeed the
world in countless ways. From highly sophisticated veterinary
practices serving the 19 million residents of Texas and their
animals to military, industrial, government and university roles,
Aggie veterinarians hold positions of prestige and
responsibility.
The faculty and staff of the college are committed to
exceptional teaching, research and patient care. Our research
addresses significant problems in both animal and human health,
which impacts both Texas and the entire nation. Our Veterinary
Medical Teaching Hospital provides patient care services to
thousands of animals owned by Texans every year.
We are proud of our college, our facilities and our programs,
but it is the people that make it all work--we are enormously proud
of our faculty, staff and students. I hope you will enjoy your
internet visit and will choose to visit us in person in the future
to learn more on a first hand basis about the Texas Veterinary
Medical Center and the College of Veterinary Medicine and
Biomedical Sciences.
Sincerely,
Eleanor M. Green, DVM, DACVIM, DABVP
