Scholarly Interests
Role of protein structure in disease, particularly in neurological disease; structure and function of the superfamily of neurotransmitter-gated ion channels that includes nicotinic acetylcholine, serotonin 5HT3, glycine, and GABAA,C receptors from eukaryotes and prokaryotes; interpreting electrophysiological properties of ligand gated ion channels in terms of structure and thermodynamics; computational models of functions of mechanotransduction channels and calcium and potassium ion channels to explain electrophysiological function of cochlear hair cells; clinical neuropathology.
