Visiting Associate Professor
Broadly defined, our research interests fall under the umbrella of genome evolution in its various dimensions. We use an integrated approach employing comparative genomics, population genetics and experimental evolution to understand the evolution of genomes. Presently, the primary focus in the lab is on gene duplication and its role in adaptation using the bacteria, E. coli, as a model system. In addition to our work on gene duplication, we are studying various facets of the evolution of organellar genomes.
