"Dare to be Kind"

Howdy! My name is Sophie Robichaux and on behalf of Delta Gamma, I would like to invite you to our 4th Lectureship Series in Values and Ethics. We are thrilled this year to be hosting Lizzie Velasquez, a global motivational speaker who became well known for her TED talk describing her encounters with bullying. Lizzie was born with an extremely rare congenital disease that makes her unable to accumulate body fat or gain weight. While searching online as a teen, she came across a viral video entitled “World’s Ugliest Woman,” only to discover that it featured her. In response, she decided to stand up on behalf of bullying victims everywhere. Through sharing her story, she has empowered thousands to fight bullying with kindness.

Lizzie will be speaking over her new book, “Dare to Be Kind.” In this speech, Lizzie shows us how we can learn to accept all parts of ourselves and others, and in doing so, create a "culture of kindness." She will share uplifting insight on how we can overcome obstacles in our path and move forward with greater positivity and power. She models and teaches us that extraordinary compassion can transform our world.

Following the event, there will be a book signing in Barnes and Noble where Lizzie will be available to sign copies of her book. There will be copies for sale at the signing.

The event will take place on November 1st at 7:00 PM in Rudder Auditorium. Lectureship is free to attend, and tickets can be reserved through the MSC Box Office or online.

We look forward to you joining us!
