18 ambassadors to offer tours this fall

We have a great new group of 18 CVM ambassadors! Please welcome them if you see them in the hallways learning the tour route!

Rogers honored as fish camp namesake

Dr. Kenita Rogers, Associate Dean of Professional Programs at the Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences (CVM), was honored this summer as a 2014 Texas A&M Fish Camp namesake.

Facilities update

As construction of the Veterinary & Biomedical Education Complex moves forward, and the buildings begin to take shape, tours will become available. Please contact Heather Quiram or Sam Wigington to coordinate a visit. Given the inherent dangers of a construction site, particularly one of this size, please DO NOT enter the fenced area without an escort. Skanska has an excellent safety record and we would like to help them keep it that way.

State Employee Charitable Campaign kicks off

It is time to get excited! State Employee Charitable Campaign (SECC) is just around the corner and we need your help! A department unit coordinator will help with fundraising & collect the employee contributions for your department.

Hospital to deploy patient advocates

The hospital has been working on plans to deploy a team of staff called patient advocates. They will be led by Jimann Jones in the Large Animal Hospital and Jean Anne Day in the Small Animal Hospital. At any given time during the day we will have at least one staff member out from behind the counter providing a heightened level of client services. They will greet clients in the lobby, assist faculty with delivering patient updates in a timely manner, answer client questions, and generally help to ensure the clients’ comfort while in the hospital.

4VMs complete ALS Bucket Challenge

Our 4VM students took the Ice Bucket Challenge in memory of a beloved professor, Dr. Timothy Cudd, who died of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), or Lou Gehrig's Disease, in 2012. They challenged all of the graduating classes at the other SEC veterinary colleges to do the same!

On August 22nd, Todd Huebner and Richard Wallace from Merial Animal Health made a $5,000 contribution to the Dr. Thomas Mac Devin ’89 Memorial Scholarship.

I am thrilled to have the opportunity to serve as president-elect of the Association of American Veterinary Medical Colleges (AAVMC). Over the course of the next year, I will be working closely with deans from veterinary schools across North America on issues that affect us all.
