Dr. Kathrin Burke
Kathrin graduated from the Veterinary School in Hannover/Germany
in 2001 and joined the GI Lab the same year. In 2004 she completed
her German doctorate thesis at the GI Lab and she has been working
on her PhD since then. Her main focus is the development of new
noninvasive diagnostic tests in cats with chronic GI disease. She
recently developed and analytically validated an immunoassay for
the detection of alpha1-proteinase inhibitor in feces of cats,
which is currently the only available non-invasive method for the
detection of gastrointestinal protein loss in cats.
