Dr. Micah Bishop
After completing his veterinary degree at Ross University in
2005 and a subsequent large animal internship at the University of
Minnesota, Micah enrolled in the PhD program at the GI Lab. His PhD
project involves the investigation of hereditary pancreatitis in
Miniature Schnauzers. He has found 3 genetic mutations to-date and
is currently evaluating them to see how they cause disease. He is
also interested in Canine Schistosomiasis and is the first to
develop a PCR assay for detection of the parasite. This test is
proving to be the most sensitive way to diagnose this condition. He
lives with his wife, Aubrey (also a veterinarian) in Houston with
their dog Henry.
