Masters Programs
The Degree of Master of Science
The Master of Science (MS) curriculum is designed to develop new
understanding and to provide the specialized training necessary for
careers in teaching, research, and/or other science-based
professions.
Thesis Masters
The Master of Science degree program requires a minimum of 32
semester credit hours. The specific coursework undertaken by the
student is dictated by departmental requirements and the student's
advisory committee. Additionally, the student is required to embark
on a research project and develop a thesis. The student must
satisfy all the coursework and pass a final examination in order to
obtain their degree.
Non-thesis Masters
The non-thesis Master of Science degree program requires a
minimum of 36 semester credit hours. The specific coursework
undertaken by the student is dictated by departmental requirements
and the student's advisory committee. The student must successfully
complete all assigned coursework and pass a final comprehensive
examination in order to obtain their degree.
- This is a non-stipend, non-fellowship program.
- There is no research project involved in this program.
- Application deadlines for the Biomedical Sciences non-thesis
Master of Science program are March 1 for summer admission and July
1 for fall admission.
