CVM Merit Scholars Fellowship
Description:The College of Veterinary Medicine
& Biomedical Sciences (CVM) at Texas A&M University is
offering a CVM Merit Graduate Scholar Fellowship for highly
qualified students interested in pursuing a Ph.D. in any of the
following disciplines: Biomedical Genomics, Neuroscience,
Cardiovascular Sciences, Infectious Diseases and Biodefense,
Toxicology, Oncology, Environmental Health Sciences, and Veterinary
Clinical Research. Successful applicants will join a nationally
competitive, multidisciplinary graduate program with over 150
students engaged in cutting-edge research. The CVM seeks to expand
these programs by offering this fellowship, which includes an
extremely competitive graduate stipend of $36,000 annually for high
quality students interested in pursuing careers in basic or applied
research. Students are required to have a 3.2 GPA or equivalent and
a score of at least 1200 (revised score = 310) on the GRE
examination. Applicants with documented research experience, such
as an undergraduate or Masters' thesis, presentations, and/or
publications, are strongly encouraged to notify their faculty
mentor of their interest in this award. Only US citizens or
permanent residents will be eligible.

Patterson Minority Fellowship
Description: Applications are invited from
veterinarians belonging to underrepresented minority groups who
wish to undertake advanced training/education to prepare for an
academic career as a faculty member in a college of veterinary
medicine. The successful applicant may pursue either a graduate
degree in a Signature Program area at the CVM or a three-year
residency program in an AVMA-recognized veterinary specialty
offered by the college. The residency program may also be combined
with a graduate degree program. Signature Program areas are
cardiology, toxicology, genomics, reproductive biology, neurology,
oncology, and emerging and infectious diseases. Residency training
programs include large and small animal surgery, small animal
internal medicine, anesthesiology, cardiology, dermatology,
neurology, oncology, radiology, zoological medicine, avian
medicine, pathology, clinical pathology, microbiology, and food
animal theriogenology. Each applicant must be a citizen of the
United States and a member of an underrepresented minority group.

TAMU AFS Diversity Fellowship
Description: This fellowship was established to
attract students to Texas A&M who have a proven record of
success in a diverse environment. Academic departments nominate
prospective graduate students, and recipients are selected based on
overall merit and the nominating department's statement of
support.These fellowships are awarded to both masters and doctoral
students. They are awarded by a university-wide competitvie
process. The fellowships provide the student with $9,000 per year
for 3 years (doctoral) or $9,000 for 2 years (masters) for tuition
and fees, $18,000 for 3 year for doctoral students or $13,000 for 2
years for masters students, a minimum $7,569/year departmental
assistantship (0.50 full-time employee) or a scholarship of at
least $7,569/year and health insurance for the student from the
graduate student health plan, for the duration of the fellowship.

TAMU AFS Merit Fellowship
Description: These fellowships are designed to
recruit outstanding students to enroll in graduate programs at
Texas A&M University. These fellowships are awarded to both
masters and doctoral students. They are awarded by a
university-wide competitvie process. The fellowships provide the
student with $9,000 per year for 4 years (doctoral) or $9,000 for 1
year (masters) for tuition support , $25,000 for 1 year for
doctoral students or $20,000 for 1 year for masters students, and
$2,112 for insurance reimbursement. For more information please

Scholarships
Lechner Scholarship
Description: This scholarship is
supported from the Walter W. Lechner Estate Endowment. The
scholarship is awarded to new, incoming graduate students through a
competitve process. The scholarships can range from $500-$4,000.
The funds can be used toward tuition, fees, and books. All
recipients of this scholarship are designated Lechner
Scholars.
Deadline: Extended to Monday, May 13, 2015
Application Documents: The student must be nominated
by their mentor. The mentor must submit a letter of support
detailing why the student is deserving of this scholarship and a
copy of the students CV. The students CANNOT nominate themselves
for this award.

Outstanding Graduate Student Scholarship
Description: The College of Veterinary
Medicine and Biomedical Sciences recognizes the exceptional
accomplishments of current students pursuing a Thesis-Option
Master's or PhD degree with scholarships ranging from $500 -
$3,000. The following criteria guide the selection of
recipients:
- GPA in graduate coursework
- Publications
- Proposal submissions (as PI)
- Presentations (platform and poster)
- Awards/Honors
- Participation in the CVM Graduate Student Association
- Extracurricular/Service and other related activities
Note: Students who have received the High Impact
Achievement Award will not be eligible for the Outstanding Graduate
Student Scholarship in the same year.

Application Documents: Students are to complete the
Outstanding Graduate Student Application and submit it along with
an updated CV to their faculty mentor. The faculty mentor will
provide the student documents along with a letter of
nomination.
Awards
Time to Degree Award (PhD)
Description: The Time to Degree Award
recognizes the achievement of those students who successfully
complete all requirements for the PhD in five (5) years or less
with a $500 - $1,000. This award acts as an incentive for students
to diligently pursue their PhD coursework, research, and
dissertation in a timely manner. The award will be given to
students in their last semester with the dissertation date set and
graduation application submitted.
Deadline (for December graduates):
Application Documents: The faculty mentor or
departmental administrative assistant will submit a letter
verifying that the student has completed the requirements for the
PhD in 5 years or less from their first semester of enrollment for
the program and applied for graduation. The letter must also
specify if the program was a 64-hour or 96-hour degree.
This will be a recurring award each semester pending availability
of funds.
High Impact Achievement Recognition Awards
Description: Designed to encourage and
honor Master's and PhD students who excel in the research and
scholarly aspects of graduate education, the High Impact
Achievement Recognition Awards will be given in the following
categories:
