POSTDOC AWARDS

Barbara Szonyi

  • Outstanding Postdoctoral Research Associate Award ($1,000). CVM Honors Convocation, April 5, 2013.

Presented to a postdoctoral research associate who has demonstrated excellence in research, publications, and securing funding while at the CVM.

  • American Association of Veterinary Laboratory Diagnosticians (AAVLD) Trainee Travel Award ($1,000). Sep. 30, 2011

Purpose of the award to present research findings at the American Association of Veterinary Laboratory Diagnosticians (AAVLD) Annual Meeting, Buffalo, NY, USA, 2011. The AAVLD offers, through a peer review process, travel awards to post-doctoral appointees and graduate students who present abstracts at the meeting. Selection was based on a written statement of interest, letter of recommendation, potential for future contributions to the field and scientific merit of a submitted abstract.

 

Majid Bani-Yaghoub

  • International Conference on Mathematical Modeling and Analysis III (ICMA III) Travel Award ($625). Oct. 7-9, 2011.

This award was given by the ICMA-III, Trinity University, to the postdocs from all around the world to offset their cost of attending and presenting their research that focused on application of mathematical modeling in epidemiology, ecology and biological sciences. Selection was based on the peer review process of the submitted research abstract.

 

 

 

GRADUATE STUDENT AWARDS

Raju Gautam

  • 2013 CVM High Impact Research Achievement Award-First Author Publication Award. ($500) February 22, 2013

This award was presented to the Texas A&M University, College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences graduate students for publishing first author articles from their research.

  • Training award in Stochastics Applied to Biological Systems. June 18-29, 2012.

Purpose of the award to train new generation of graduate students in the interface of mathematical and biological sciences. This award is administered through the Joint 2012 MBI-NIMBioS-CAMBAM summer Graduate Workshop at the Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio. Participants are selected competitively from the pool of applicants from around the world who demonstrate the potential of applying mathematical tool to solve complex biological problems in their research.

  • 2012 CVM High Impact Research Achievement Award-First Author Publication Award. April 20, 2012

This award was presented to the Texas A&M University, College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences graduate students for publishing first author articles from their research.

  • The CVM Graduate Trainee Research Grant ($5,000). Dec. 12, 2011

This award was given to the Texas A&M University, College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences graduate students through a competitive review of research proposals. The award was started to encourage graduate students to develop grand writing skills early in their career and enhance their learning experience at the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. Only the proposals that had strong potential to compete for the state or national level funding were recommended by the review committee for funding.

  • Chemical and Biological Defense Science and Technology Conference (CBDS&T) Travel Award ($1,293). Nov. 14-18, 2011.

The CBDS&T offers travel award to 30 graduate students from across the United States to present their research relevant to the focus area of Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA). Student presenters are selected through a peer review process of the submitted abstract in the focus area of the CBDS&T.

This award was given to the graduate student at the Texas A&M University, College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences in recognition of the potential for excellence in scientific research.

  • Burroughs Wellcome Foundation (the foundation for NIH) Travel scholarship ($325). March 26-29, 2011.

This travel award was given to the student working in the NSF funded research projects to offset the cost of attending and presenting their research at the annual meeting "Ecology and Evolution of Infectious Diseases (EEID)", University of Wisconsin- Madison, WI.

  • Melbern G. Glasscock Humanities Award for oral presentation (2nd place). March 27, 2010

This award was given to the graduate student for outstanding platform presentation at the annual Student Research Week of Texas A&M University, organized by the graduate student council.

 

 

Sang Shin Park
