Molecular Cytogenetics and Genomics Laboratoy
Services - Sequencing
The Molecular Cytogenetics and Genomics Laboratory at Texas
A&M University performs ready-to-run sequencing reactions.
You do the sequencing reaction yourself and we run the
samples on 3730 capillary sequencer.
Sample Submission
Bring us the re-suspended samples in 11µl of ABI HiDi formamide
(in a tube wrapped with Aluminum foil) after column purification
and drying. Alternatively, we can re-suspend your samples for at a
flat rate of $10 per injection (48 reactions), up to 96 samples.
You may send your sample in sequencing plates,
micro-centrifuge tubes or in PCR plates in dry condition, without
exposing to direct light and at +40C, overnight.
Plate Preparation (for genotyping and sequencing):
- For one injection (48 reactions) sample to be
added in the 48 odd numbered wells (1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11)
in 3730 compatible 96 well plate.
- For two injections (96 reactions) utilize all
wells.
We run regularly scheduled validation checks of all our
instruments with control samples to verify that all equipment is
functioning properly. Therefore, if the run is successful for the
other samples on the plate, and your sample fails, we don't accept
responsibility for the failure. You will be charged for running
both the failed samples and any reruns. We will be happy to help
you troubleshoot your sequencing reactions. All samples are entered
into a database that gives each entry an ID number for customer
results and data storage purposes. So, a data sheet for each
sequencing reaction should be filled up by the customer, which is
available for sequencing (48 well, 96 well) and then sent by
e-mail.
Turn-around Time
The turn-around time is 1-2 working days for ready-to-run
samples. Occasional delays may occur if we experience unusually
heavy loads or equipment failure.
Results
Results will be available as computer files. Results can be
retrieved either directly from the facility or by e-mail.We can
assist you in interpreting your results and trouble-shooting
problems.
Data Storage
All data is backed up daily. Raw data is stored for 1 month.
Analyzed data is permanently archived and backed up off-site.
Cost
Costs per injection (48 reaction /injection) are $96.00
(sequencing) and $72.00(genotyping) for ready-to run reactions.
