Promoting Gastrointestinal Health in Companion Animals

The Gastrointestinal Laboratory at Texas A&M University, the only laboratory of its kind worldwide, has helped to bring along many advances in our understanding of gastrointestinal disease in companion animals. Over the last 20 years we have developed several new diagnostic tests that help your veterinarian make a diagnosis and choose the appropriate therapy for your pet.

Unfortunately, there is little government funding available to study diseases in dogs and cats. While millions of dollars are spent every year to improve the gastrointestinal health of humans, our furry companions are left behind! This is why we are embarking on a major development campaign.

The goal of this campaign is to make sure this laboratory can continue its work.

Specifically, we have five goals:

  1. To establish the first Institute of Companion Animal Gastroenterology worldwide
  2. To establish the first Chair in Companion Animal Gastroenterology worldwide
  3. To create the first academic training program in Companion Animal Gastroenterology
  4. To establish a fund for collaborative projects in Companion Animal Gastroenterology
  5. To establish a capital equipment fund
