Graduate STEM Fellows in K-12 Education (GK-12)The Program
supports fellowships and associated training that enable graduate
students in science, technology, engineering and mathematics to
serve in K-12 schools. Three main objectives of the program
are: (1) to support highly qualified graduate students in STEM
disciplines through fellowships to provide them with an opportunity
to gain a deeper understanding of their own research, its societal
and global contexts, and acquire valuable skills (such as
communicating STEM subjects to technical and non-technical
audiences, leadership, team building and teaching) that normally
are not emphasized in a more traditional STEM graduate program, and
to broaden their options for STEM careers in a competitive global
marketplace;(2)and to enrich STEM learning and instruction in K-12
settings through strong partnerships with institutions of higher
education;(3) to provide institutions of higher education with an
opportunity to make a permanent change in their graduate programs
by incorporating activities in the training of their STEM graduate
students.

Occupational Safety and Health Education and Research Centers
(T42) The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health
(NIOSH)/ Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) invite
grant applications for Education and Research Centers (ERC) that
are focused on occupational safety and health training and research
training. NIOSH is mandated to provide an adequate supply of
qualified personnel to carry out the purposes of the Occupational
Safety and Health Act, and the ERCs are one of the principal means
for meeting this mandate. ERCs are academic institutions that
provide interdisciplinary graduate training and continuing
education in the core occupational safety and health areas of
industrial hygiene (IH), occupational health nursing (OHN),
occupational medicine residency (OMR), occupational safety (OS), as
well as other closely related occupational safety and health (OSH)
fields.

Research
in Biomedicine and Agriculture using Agriculturally Important
Domestic Species The focal point of the FOA will be to
stimulate and strengthen the application of domestic agricultural
species to refine animal models utilized to address and elucidate
specific complex biological mechanisms important to both
biomedicine and agriculture. This FOA seeks and encourages
research grant applications projected to have a "dual benefit" for
the improvement of health and reproduction in both humans and
agriculturally important animals.
