World Rabies Day Vaccine
Clinic - October 6, 2012 10am-2pm
This clinic is held in conjunction with
saint francis fest and will give experience to veterinary students
to practice their physical exams on both dogs and cats, as well as
help the first years prepare for their annual anatomy palpation
exam! This is also a chance to communicate with clients and educate
them on heartworm prevention as well as vaccinations and general
health of their animals.
Last year the vaccine clinic went really
well!! We had 19 volunteers, vaccinated 76 dogs and cats, and
microchipped approximately 20-25 dogs (and 1 cat)! Thanks so much
to the Aggieland Humane Society, Dr. Snowden and Dr. Craig for
helping us make this clinic a success! We distributed AVMA pamplets
on heartworm disease, parvovirus, and spaying/neutering pets in
both English and Spanish. We really hope this helped out the
community in Bryan!

Wienerfest - October 27, 2012 at Wolf Pen Creek
Amphitheater 7am-5pm
Wienerfest is put on by the Aggieland Humane Society as a
fundraiser every year for the last six years. There is more
information available at
http://aggielandhumane.org/events/wienerfest2012/. There will be
wiener dog races, 'wanna be a wiener' races, costume contests, a 5K
walk/run and lots of vendors and doggies! Vet students will be
helping with registration of all the pooches, making sure their
vaccines are up-to-date.
Wienerfest is a lot of fun for the volunteers, especially when
we have some free time to watch the wiener races! Over 200 dogs
participate in Wienerfest and the event raises quite a bit of money
for the Aggiesland Humane Society!
Adopt-a-thon - Spring 2013 at Aggieland Humane
Society
Adopt-a-thon is put on by the Aggieland Humane Society as well
every year. They have half-price adoptions, vendors, and a vaccine
clinic. This vaccine clinic is put on by the BVVMA and has rabies
vaccinations, heartworm testing, microchipping and county tags. The
vet students perform physical exams, draw blood, vaccinate and
communicate with clients.
