Urethral stricture
Ruger's story
Ruger suffered a severe crush injury to his pelvis and required
extensive surgery to repair the damage. He recovered well from
this, but had difficulty urinating and was referred to Texas
A&M for further evaluation. We found that a stricture
(narrowing) of his urethra, the tube which carries urine from the
bladder.
Using fluoroscopy, we identified the stricture and placed a
self-expanding stent across the lesion. This opened up the urethra
and let the urine pass freely.
