Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation
The Texas A&M University (TAMU) College of Veterinary
Medicine and Biomedical Sciences Veterinary Sports Medicine
and Rehabilitation (VSMR) service offers therapy for
hospitalized animals, most of whom are being cared for by
other veterinary specialists within the Veterinary Medical Teaching
Hospital. The VSMR also provides care on an out-patient
basis for estabilished TAMU patients or
for patients who have been referred
for rehabilitation. The purpose of this service is to enhance
recovery from an injury or illness, and improve the general health
of the patient.
The VSMR team includes board-certified veterinary surgeons,
highly trained veterinary technicians, and senior veterinary
students who work closely with you and your animal
companion. The types of problems that can benefit from this
service include complex orthopedic and neurological
conditions, surgical recovery, weight management, and pain
management. Therapy may also be helpful to improve performance
of dogs that work, compete in sports, or just want to
enjoy an active lifestyle! Our services are not limited to
canines - contact us to learn whether we may be able to improve
quality of life for your animal companion!
