Matthew W. Miller, DVM, MS, Diplomate ACVIM (Cardiology)

Dr. Miller is currently Professor of Cardiology in the Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences and immediate past president of the ACVIM Cardiology Specialty. He received his DVM degree from The Ohio State University in 1984 and his Masters of Science degree from the same university in 1993. He completed a small animal medicine and surgery internship at the West Los Angeles Veterinary Medical Group from 1984 to 1985 and a cardiology residency at The Ohio State University from 1985 to 1988. He became a diplomat of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (Cardiology) in 1988. He is a Charter Fellow of the Michael E. DeBakey Institute of Comparative Cardiovascular Science and Biomedical Devices. He also serves as the Interim Director and Senior Research Scientist for the Texas A&M Institute for Preclinical Studies (TIPS).

Sonya G. Gordon, DVM, DVSc, DACVIM (Cardiology)

Sonya G. Gordon, DVM, DVSc, DACVIM (Cardiology)

Dr. Sonya Gordon graduated with a DVM from the Ontario Veterinary College in Canada in 1994. She then completed a small animal internship at the Atlantic Veterinary College in Canada and returned to the Ontario Veterinary College where she completed an advanced degree in cardiology and her cardiology residency training. Subsequently she joined the faculty of the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Science of Texas A&M University and became board certified by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in the specialty of cardiology in 1999. She has been on faculty at Texas A&M University since 1998 and is currently an Associate professor of cardiology and a Fellow of the Michael E. DeBakey Institute. She is actively involved in the ACVIM College of Cardiology where she has served as a member and or Chair of the Residency Training, Credentials, Examination, MVD consensus statement, Appeals and Forum committees. She has received awards for teaching and is very active in Continuing education efforts for primary care veterinarians both locally and internationally. She is a founding member of the Cardiology Education Group whose mission statement involves a commitment to the education of primary care veterinarians. She reviews for peer reviewed journals and granting organizations, has authored many journal articles and book chapters and is frequently an invited lecturer at professional veterinary conferences. She is proud to be a part of a busy progressive cardiology program at Texas A&M where she has helped train nine cardiology residents. Although she considers herself a clinician and teacher first her research interests are focused on canine chronic valve disease, imaging, interventional procedures and clinical trials. She considers her home College Station TX where she shares her life with her husband, 4 dogs and 3 cats. Dr Gordon's new book, The ABCDs of Small Animal Cardiology is due out in February 2013.

Ashley B. Saunders, DVM, DACVIM (Cardiology)

Ashley B. Saunders, DVM, DACVIM (Cardiology)

Dr. Saunders is an Assistant Professor of Cardiology at Texas A&M University. She received her DVM degree from Texas A&M University, completed a small animal medicine and surgery internship at the University of Tennessee and a cardiology residency at Texas A&M University. Dr. Saunders is board certified in the specialty of cardiology by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine. She is a Fellow of the Michael E. DeBakey Institute for Comparative Cardiovascular Sciences and Biomedical Devices. She is pictured with her French Bulldogs, DJ and Max.

Kathy Glaze, RVT

Kathy Glaze, RVT

Kathy Glaze is a registered veterinary technician and has been a technician at Texas A&M University since 1991. Kathy was a founding member of Brazos Valley Golden Retriever Rescue and served as president for 4 years. She has been an active member of Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Rescue for the past 15 years. Kathy specializes in managing the cardiovascular catheterization laboratory. She enjoys kayaking with Grace, one of her 4 Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, is a Master Gardener and is active in her local CERT and ARES groups.

Jill VanWhy, RVT

Jill VanWhy, RVT

Jill is a Registered Veterinary Technician, and has been with Texas A&M since 2012. She has a background in education, and previously worked as a licensed technician in New York State before joining the cardiology service at Texas A&M. In cardiology, she lends support with patient care, student teaching, and assistance with clinical research projects. Outside of work, Jill enjoys traveling and exploring the state she now calls home.
