Cardiology
The Texas A&M University Cardiology Service is committed to
outstanding clinical service and scientific research. Faculty
members are leaders in the fields of heart failure management,
interventional cardiology and cardiovascular surgery. Our
cardiologists diagnose and treat valvular heart disease,
cardiomyopathies, congenital heart disease and heart failure among
many other cardiovascular diseases. We provide comprehensive,
compassionate patient care. Our facilities include a state of the
art digital catheterization laboratory and a dedicated
cardiovascular surgery suite. Interventional catheter based
procedures for the treatment of congenital heart defects including
patent ductus arteriosus
(PDA), pulmonic stenosis (PS), and
atrial septal defects (ASD) offer pet owners an alternative to
surgery.
The Texas A&M University Veterinary Medical Teaching
Hospital in cooperation with the Michael E. DeBakey Institute of
Comparative Cardiovascular Science and Biomedical Devices are
committed to collaborative research in vascular responses and
adaptation to systemic hypertension, preclinical evaluation of left
ventricular assist devices and evaluation of novel designs for
coronary artery stents.
The cardiology service is committed to promoting and
establishing clinical trials that will better determine therapeutic
options for common cardiovascular diseases in companion animals.
Please see our Clinical Trials web page for a list of
current trials in cardiology.
