John R. August

John R. August, BVetMed, MS, MRCVS, DACVIM

Professor of Feline Internal Medicine

Dr. John August is a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (Specialty of Small Animal Internal Medicine). He has held faculty appointments at Auburn University and Virginia Tech.

In 1986, he joined Texas A&M University as Professor and Head of the Department of Small Animal Medicine and Surgery, and was Deputy Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine. Since 1997, he has held the appointment of Professor of Feline Internal Medicine in the Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences. His professional interests include upper respiratory and oral diseases of cats, and educational technology. He is editor-in-chief of Consultations in Feline Internal Medicine. The sixth volume was published by Elsevier in 2009.

Audrey Cook

Audrey Cook, BVM&S, DACVIM, DECVIM

Clinical Associate Professor

Dr. Audrey Cook is a diplomate of both the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (Specialty of Small Animal Internal Medicine) and the European College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (Companion Animal). She works with both Canine Internal Medicine Service and the Feline Internal Medicine Service.

Audrey Cook obtained her veterinary degree at the University of Edinburgh in 1989. She completed an internship in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery at North Carolina State University before starting her Residency in Small Animal Internal Medicine at University of California at Davis. She completed this program in 1994, and achieved Board Certification with the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in 1994 and the European College in 1996. Dr. Cook owned a referral practice in Virginia for years before joining the faculty here in 2007. Her professional interests include endocrinology and gastroenterology.

Katherine Scott

Katherine Scott, DVM, DACVIM

Lecturer

Dr. Katherine Scott is a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (Specialty of Small Animal Internal Medicine). She works with both Canine Internal Medicine Service and the Feline Internal Medicine Service.

Kathy Scott obtained her DVM from Oklahoma State in 2003. She completed an internship in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery at Kansas State University before starting her Residency in Small Animal Internal Medicine here at Texas A&M in 2004. She completed this program in 2007, and achieved Board Certification with the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in 2009. Since 2007, Dr. Snyder has been on faculty here, assigned primarily to the Feline and Canine Internal Medicine Services. Her professional interests include feline medicine, nephrology, and gastrointestinal disorders. She particularly enjoys working with and teaching veterinary students. In her spare time she enjoys watching movies and going hiking.

Debra Zoran

Debra Zoran, DVM, MS, PhD, DACVIM

Associate Professor, Chief of Small Animal Internal Medicine

Dr. Deb Zoran is a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (Specialty of Small Animal Internal Medicine). She works with both the Canine Internal Medicine Service and the Feline Internal Medicine Service.

Dr. Deb Zoran is a 1984 graduate of Kansas State University's College of Veterinary Medicine. Following graduation, she entered private clinical practice in the Phoenix, Arizona area until returning in 1987 to Iowa State University for her small animal internal medicine residency. She completed a Master's degree and became a Diplomate of the ACVIM - Small Animal Internal Medicine during her time there. In 1992, she moved to Texas A&M University to undertake a PhD in Nutrition with Dr. Joanne Lupton, and completed her dissertation: "Butyrate and the colonocyte: Effect on cellular events and role in protection against colon cancer" in 1997. Since that time, Dr. Zoran has been a member of the clinical faculty in the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital at Texas A&M University where she is actively involved with clinical, teaching, and research activities in small animal gastroenterology, nutrition, and feline medicine.

Katy W Waddell

Katy W Waddell, RVT, VTS (ECC, Anesthesia)

Technician III, Feline and Canine Internal Medicine and Endoscopy Services Floater Technician

Ms. Waddell is a registered veterinary technician with specialty certification in Emergency and Critical Care as well as Small Animal Anesthesia.  She works with the faculty, staff and students of Feline Internal Medicine, Canine Internal Medicine and Endoscopy Services.

Ms. Waddell graduated in 1976 with Associates in Animal Health Technology and was credentialed as a Registered Veterinary Technician in Texas in 1977.  In 2002, she qualified as a Veterinary Technician Specialist in Emergency and Critical Care and in 2006 qualified as a Veterinary Technician Specialist in Small Animal Anesthesia.  During her years in the field of Veterinary Medicine, she has had the opportunity to teach veterinary technician students and veterinary students.  As a patient advocate, Ms. Waddell has lectured at international meetings as well as national, state and regional symposiums.  Her work with the College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences has allowed her to participate in clinical trials as well as publish articles and book chapters.  In her away from work time, she participates in providing on -line continuing education for technicians and helping to organize and instruct wet labs for student chapters of VECCS, ACVIM, and IVAPM.  She has been recognized as the recipient of many awards, the most current being the TVMA 2013 Technician of the Year.
