is a third-year veterinary student from Boerne who completed her
undergraduate degree in biomedical sciences, with a minor in
geography, at Texas A&M in 2015. During her time as an
undergraduate, she worked in the CVM's Small Animal Hospital,
researched Nicaraguan cultural landscapes, and studied plant and
animal biodiversity in the rainforest of Costa Rica.
Since being accepted to veterinary school, she has traveled to
Guatemala, Dominican Republic, and Peru, to volunteer for free
spay/neuter and vaccination programs in communities that cannot
afford veterinary care.
When she graduates in 2019, she will be the fourth veterinarian
in her family. She hopes to work in a small-animal veterinary
practice and pursue her passion of international veterinary
medicine in developing countries. In her free time, Ali loves to
hike, babysit her nieces and nephews, read novels, and hang out
with her cat—a 5-year-old Maine coon named Ted.
