Emily TranEmily is a veterinary student in the class of 2021. A first-generation Aggie from Houston, she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in biology, with a minor in psychology, from Texas A&M in 2017. Having grown up with family pets, her love for animals began at a very early age, and what started as a child’s love and adoration for animals has transformed into a strong passion for veterinary medicine. She is interested in pursuing a career in small-animal medicine.

Emily grew up in an economically disadvantaged household with immigrant parents who initially disapproved of her dreams of becoming a veterinarian. She is the first in her family to graduate from college and will be the first doctor in the family. She hopes to share her experiences in order to inspire others to never give up their dreams, even when success seems out of reach.

In her free time, Emily enjoys hanging out with her friends and family, trying new foods, and watching TV shows. Her all-time favorite show is the '90s sitcom “Friends,” which she has watched four times through and will continue to watch until Netflix takes it off its site.

Emily also is the human of a sassy tortoiseshell cat named Snickers.
