Summer Academy
Biomedical Sciences (BIMS)
Summer Academy May 19-24, 2013
This is a new program for community
college transfer students who will be matriculating into BIMS in
Fall 2013. The program will give students a week immersion
experience in the College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical
Sciences at Texas A&M University. You will interact with
top-notch teachers, have hands-on laboratory experience, get to
know your fellow transfer students, and learn your way around the
university. The Summer Academy will be non-graded and will not earn
course credit.
What is the cost?
Costs will be covered by BIMS for 8 students, who will receive
housing at no cost in TAMU dorms, as well as all breakfasts and
lunches on class days, and supplies for the classes. If additional
students wish to attend the Summer Academy, they will be charged
$325 for supplies, breakfasts, and lunches.
Who can apply? You
must have completed the curriculum requirements in the 2+2
articulation agreement between your community college and BIMS by
May 15, 2013 and be accepted into BIMS for Fall 2013. An
application for the Summer Academy process will be available online
beginning April 1, 2013. Criteria for selection will be
overall GPR, GPR in common body of knowledge courses, a letter of
recommendation by your academic advisor or faculty mentor at your
community college, an essay in which you explain your interest in
participating in the Summer Academy, and financial need. The
deadline is May 15, by 5:00pm.

What is the time commitment?
