Posted August 25, 2010

August 25, 2010 - Congratulations to STJR student Bernard Appiah for successfully defending his master's thesis. Appiah defended his thesis, "Science Journalism in Ghana: A Study of Journalists Who Cover Science," on August 2.

Appiah, who is from Ghana, came to the STJR program with a pharmacy degree and experience as an information pharmacist. He is the author of the book Medicines: Using Them Safely, now in its second edition.

Since fall 2009, Appiah has been the graduate assistant for AuthorAID, a project to help researchers in developing countries write about and publish their work. Recently he represented AuthorAID at the eLearning Africa 2010 conference, held in Zambia.

Appiah is entering the doctor of public health program at the Texas A&M School of Rural Public Health. He will specialize in social and behavioral health. We look forward to his continued participation in the Texas A&M community.
