Join Us at the AAAS Meeting!
On February 18-20, seven
students from the Texas A&M science and technology journalism
program will attend the 2011 meeting of the American Association of
the Advancement of Science, in Washington, DC.
During the meeting, the
students will cover science communication sessions for Science
Editor,
the magazine of the Council of Science Editors. They will also
attend science sessions, visit the internship fair organized by the
National Association of Science Writers, and mingle with
professionals in their field.
The program coordinator,
Barbara Gastel, will be giving the workshop "Writing Scientific
Papers in English: Tips and Resources," on Friday. On Saturday she
will also moderate the session "Publication without Borders:
Spanning Countries, Disciplines, Audiences, and Roles." Both
sessions start at 8 a.m.
The meeting is a yearly
event organized by the American Association for the Advancement of
Science. The AAAS is the world's largest general science
association, with more than 125 thousand members. It publishes the
journal Science.
If you wish to meet
members of our program during AAAS, please write to
bgastel@cvm.tamu.edu. We would be pleased to talk with anyone
interested in our program.
