Dr. Lisa Benjamin off to UC Davis
Recent graduate, Lisa Benjamin, to begin a post-doctoral
research position at U.C. Davis Western Institute of Food Safety
and Security.
Dr. Lisa Benjamin was awarded an Oak Ridge Institute for Science
and Education (ORISE) Postdoctoral Fellowship to work with Dr.
Robert Atwill, the Interim Director of the Western Institute of
Food Safety and Security at U.C. Davis. Her work will involve
identification of reservoirs of bacterial contamination and the
mechanisms by which animal pathogens move into the production
environment. She will also be working on identification of measures
which can be used to mitigate the risk of contamination of lettuce
and spinach with Escherichia coli. Dr. Benjamin recently completed
her PhD in epidemiology, with her dissertation titled, "An
environmental perspective to decision-making for the control of
Johne's disease on beef ranches".
