Dr. Lisa Benjamin was awarded an Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE) Postdoctoral Fellowship to work with Dr. Robert Atwill, the Interim Director of the Western Institute of Food Safety and Security at U.C. Davis. Her work will involve identification of reservoirs of bacterial contamination and the mechanisms by which animal pathogens move into the production environment. She will also be working on identification of measures which can be used to mitigate the risk of contamination of lettuce and spinach with Escherichia coli. Dr. Benjamin recently completed her PhD in epidemiology, with her dissertation titled, "An environmental perspective to decision-making for the control of Johne's disease on beef ranches".

Good luck, Lisa!
