Small Animal Emergency Cases
The Small Animal Hospital accepts emergency cases 24 hours a
day. You do not need to call ahead to bring in small animal
emergency cases.
Large Animal Emergency Cases
The Large Animal Hospital is open 24 hours a day to accept
emergency cases. Please call ahead so we can make sure a clinician
is available to receive your case.
Large Animal
Referral is not required to schedule an appointment in the Large
Animal Hospital. Normal business hours are 8 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Monday through Friday. The front desk is available after hours from
5:00 to 11:00 p.m. during the week. The Large Animal Hospital
refers calls to an answering service after 11:00 p.m.
Small Animal
The Small Animal Hospital accepts both referral cases from
veterinarians, as well as routine care cases through its Primary
Care Service. You do not need a referral from a veterinaran to
schedule an appointment through Primary Care or to bring an
emergency case to the Hospital. Call (979) 845-2351 for Primary
Care appointments. Regular business hours are Monday through Friday
from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m..
Exotics
The Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital does have an exotics
service. Please refer to the Zoo Medicine page for a list of species
seen. Contact the Small Animal Hospital Appointment Desk to
schedule an appointment.
Wild or Orphan Animals
The Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital does not treat wild or
orphan animals. Wild animals that may present a health hazard, such
as suspected rabies infection, should be handled by your local
animal control agency.
