Director of Recruitment and Student Services

The College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences (CVM) at Texas A&M University invites applications/nominations for the position of Director of Recruitment and Student Services. This position is a tenure or clinical track associate, or full professor position. The successful candidate will become part of the Professional Programs group within the Dean’s Office, and will have a joint appointment in one of the five departments within the College, depending on the individual’s area of interest and expertise. Qualifications for the position include a DVM/VMD or equivalent veterinary degree from an AVMA-accredited university and eligibility for licensure in the state of Texas. The successful candidate will articulate a vision for recruiting a diverse and culturally competent student population and a plan for career counseling that supports the many broad career options available to DVM graduates. The candidate should have a demonstrated interest and/or expertise in the professional development and education of veterinary students or other professional students. A record of collegiality within a department and college is essential. Board certification and/or advanced degrees will be considered a positive factor.

Responsibilities of this position are focused on recruiting qualified, diverse, culturally competent students into the DVM program and coordinating mentorship and career counseling to facilitate student transitions into the DVM program and subsequently into a successful career as a veterinary professional. Additionally, the individual will teach in the professional skills portion of the curriculum, provide student mentoring, guidance of student clubs and organizations, support of student leadership positions and support of student well-being. The successful candidate will have a role in important student events and student related committees such as orientation, white coat ceremony, parents’ day, graduation and the student-faculty liaison committee. The individual will also work in tandem with the DVM Selections Committee to provide aid in selection of DVM students.

Requirements for the position include

  • A DVM (or equivalent) degree

  • An advanced degree (MS, PhD, MBA, MPH)
