The Association of Former Students Awards

College-Level Teaching Award – honors faculty members for their dedication to teaching excellence.

University-Level Distinguished Achievement Awards – honor faculty and staff members in the areas of teaching, research, individual student engagement, graduate mentoring, extension/outreach/continuing education/professional development, administration and staff support.

Texas A&M University

Chancellor’s Innovation Award – is a prestigious accolade that recognizes a Texas A&M System employee who has demonstrated success in achieving commercialization results.

Chancellor EDGES Fellowship – honor and retain midcareer faculty who are demonstrating significant accomplishment in their discipline, have gained recognition both nationally and internationally, and are on track to be honored for their achievements at the highest levels (such as national academies and national or international awards in fields without national academies).

John J. Koldus, III Award – Recognizes faculty or staff for their strong interest in overall student development and success.

Montague-Center for Teaching Excellence Scholar Award – named in honor of Kenneth Montague ’37, a distinguished alumnus and former trustee of the Texas A&M Foundation. This prestigious award is given annually to tenure-track assistant professors who demonstrate early success and passion for teaching undergraduate students.

Presidential Impact Fellows – recognize rising stars in their respective fields, and those who embody the university commitment to advancing knowledge through transformational learning, discovery, innovation, and impact for Texas and the world.

Presidential Professor for Teaching Excellence Award – serves as the most prestigious university-level recognition of teaching at Texas A&M University. Recipients exhibit a profound commitment to excellence in teaching as indicated by both scholarship of teaching and learning within their discipline and impacts upon their students and collogues.

CTE – Provost APT Faculty Teaching Excellence Award – encourages, recognizes and rewards faculty recipients for exceptional teaching practices that create meaningful learning experiences for students. The award illustrates both the impact of an effective teaching approach and the value of student-centered learning.

Regents Professor Award – The Board of Regents of The Texas A&M University System, honors individuals at the rank of professor or equivalent whose outstanding performance in teaching, research, and service has been exemplary. The award is the highest honor bestowed by the A&M System on faculty members. The performance of those selected is considered meritorious and worthy of recognition of their achievements that impacted not only their institution or agency but also the community, the state of Texas, and/or national and international levels.

Sustainability Champion Award – recognize and reward individuals – students, faculty, staff, and team members – who have demonstrated exemplary effort, dedication, and leadership throughout the year in fostering a campus culture of sustainability.

University Distinguished Professor – is bestowed upon Texas A&M University faculty members who are preeminent in their fields and have made at least one transformational contribution or provided an intellectually substantial “leap forward” in their discipline. This is the highest achievement a faculty member can earn at the university, and demonstrates the high quality of scholarship underway at Texas A&M. University Distinguished Professors are preeminent authorities in their academic disciplines and their accomplishments are exemplified by outstanding teaching, research, mentoring and service.

University Professorships – recognize faculty who have demonstrated significant and sustained accomplishments in their discipline, earning them national and international recognition. The award also highlights the recipients’ commitment to inclusivity, accountability, climate and equity in their departments, colleges and throughout their service at Texas A&M.

University Professorship for Undergraduate Teaching Excellence (UPUTE) – awarded to our most distinguished teachers of undergraduates. Awardees exhibit uncommon excellence and devotion to educating undergraduate students. These professors are exceptional classroom teachers and pedagogical innovators who explore new teaching methods and ways to engage other educators in the pursuit of excellence.
