Stay Tuned for 2020 CE Conferences Coming Soon

As we look forward to an exciting 2020, we would like to thank all of you for making 2019 a success for us in the Office of Continuing Education (CE) at the Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences (CVM). We’re thrilled to announce our upcoming conferences for next year. We hope that you will join us for some outstanding CE and opportunities to network with your colleagues!

Feb. 9–15: EuFMD Real-Time Training Course
This course is offered through our office and taught by the EuFMD in Africa. The registrant learns firsthand how to recognize, diagnose, and control foot-and-mouth disease in an endemic country. We plan to offer these training courses several times a year, so be on the lookout for an announcement about the next course.

Feb. 22-23:  Canine Abdominal Ultrasonography
Back by popular demand, we’re having another Canine Abdominal Ultrasonography Workshop in 2020! 2019’s workshop was a great success, so we’re offering another opportunity to learn the basics and to take the next step in mastering abdominal ultrasonography of dogs. This multi-faceted package begins with self-paced, online modules followed by a live webinar. The second phase is a two-day, hands-on workshop in College Station, where you hone your skills on live dogs. Finally, you’ll follow up with an online post-course module.

Jan. 25: Wildlife Oil Spill Response Wet Lab
The Texas A&M CVM Student Green Vets Club would like to invite interested veterinarians and technicians to participate in their wet lab. The purpose of the wet lab is to certify and train personnel that are interested in assisting the Wildlife Center of Texas’ Oiled Wildlife Response Team during a spill. The wet lab leads to the certification, which is required for anyone who wishes to participate in any role during an oiled wildlife response.

May 29–Jun. 1: Annual Veterinary Technicians Conference
The conference created by technicians—for technicians. Be a part of this first-class and high energy, multi-track annual conference. See your old friends and make some new ones. Choose from classroom presentations, wet labs, workshops, and fun, interactive experiences. New this year is the RECOVER Rescuer CPR Certification Package for technicians. The laboratory sessions will be taught by Ken Yagi, nationally known veterinary technician and Program Director for the RECOVER CPR Initiative. He will also be delivering several hours of didactic instruction. Don’t miss this year’s conference!

July 17–19: First Annual Texas A&M Veterinary CE Conference
We’re introducing a new tradition at the Texas A&M CVM! We’re consolidating several of our annual species-specific conferences and adding some tracks of interest to all veterinarians to create an Annual Texas A&M Veterinary CE Conference. This conference will afford you a greater choice of topics, a larger exhibit area, and an opportunity to network with more of your colleagues at one time. Don’t miss out on this inaugural event! Tracks this year will include Canine, Feline, Food Animal, Equine/Exotic, and Practice Management/ General. Friday, Jul. 17 will be dedicated exclusively to workshops and wet labs, including one of Dr. Bert Dodd’s popular canine dentistry wet labs.

For the first time in many years, we will have an equine session targeted at the general equine and mixed animal practitioner. The equine topics for both the laboratories and didactic sessions will be colic, ophthalmology, endocrine disease, wound healing—and more. The conditions addressed will be those seen on a regular basis by primary care equine veterinarians.

The Practice Management/General Track will stimulate you to think outside of your comfort zone, led by progressive, practicing veterinarians and leaders from related industries who will share with you how to make your practices more professionally and financially rewarding. We will also have sessions on how you can use the Internet to find information on challenging cases, as well as the mandatory training on opioid prescribing now required for license renewal. Be on the lookout for more details on the other tracks in future emails.

Sept. 28: Internal Medicine in Thailand

Oct. 17–18: Emergency Critical Care Conference
