Online Self-Study: Two 1-hour modules allow you to study at your own pace on your own schedule. The first hour includes how to operate your machine, how the physics of ultrasonography works and how to adjust the settings on your machine (Knobology) to obtain optimal ultrasonographic images. The second hour includes proper preparation of the patient, and methods of scanning.
Interactive Videoconference (prerequisite-Online Self-Study Course): Three hours of live videoconferencing with complete two-way interaction will allow you to communicate with the instructors and your fellow registrants. The videoconference will consist of live demonstrations of abdominal ultrasonography focusing on the liver, spleen, urinary tract, and gastrointestinal tract. All participants will have the opportunity to ask questions in real time during the videoconference.
Basic Workshop in College Station (prerequisite Online Self-Study and Interactive Videoconference): Now you ready to get your hand on the probe. This day and a half day conference offers 6 hours of hands-on ultrasonography workshop with 4.5 hours of classroom discussion to solidify the basic information you learned in the previous courses you took at home and expand the knowledge you learn in the hands-on laboratories. You will become comfortable identifying and examining the liver, spleen, urinary tract and gastrointestinal tract on live dogs.
The Next Level – An optional 3-hour workshop is available for participants who want to go a little deeper into abdominal ultrasonography. In this session, you will learn to identify and evaluate, in live dogs, the “smaller parts” of the abdomen, namely the adrenal glands, pancreas and lymph nodes. In addition, you will practice ultrasound-guided fine needle aspirates sampling on gel phantoms.
Follow-up Modules: After the Conference weekend, complete follow-up modules to further refine your sonographic interpretation skills. These modules consist of case studies (ultrasound images and cineloops) for you to evaluate, write a diagnostic report, and receive specific instructor-written feedback on your assessment of the case
