Malignant Caterrhal Fever

Description

Malignant Catarrhal Fever is a sporadic, frequently fatal, and generalized disease of cattle, domestic buffalo and many species of wild ruminants. The disease, caused by a herpes virus has a worldwide but highly variable distribution. Malignant Catarrhal Fever is characterized by high fever, upper respiratory discharge, conjunctivitis, blisters and erosions of the mouth and respiratory tract, dehydration and death. It is difficult to control and cannot be eradicated. No vaccine is available.
