Working with Your BIMS Graduate Advisor

About Dee Cooper

I am Dee Cooper, your Graduate Staff Academic Advisor, and I am excited to support you throughout your academic journey in the Biomedical Sciences (BIMS) Graduate Program at the College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences (VMBS). Since joining VMBS in 2015, I have been committed to serving as a reliable resource for program information and academic guidance.

I can assist with course registration, filing petitions, navigating the ARCS milestone system, developing your degree plan, and meeting all university and program requirements. I can also connect students with academic and campus support resources available across Texas A&M University to help you thrive both academically and personally.

Appointment Scheduling

  • Annual advising appointments must be scheduled at least one day in advance.
  • Advising appointments are scheduled for 30 minutes and available:
      • Tuesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and
      • Friday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Mandatory Advising

  • Your annual mandatory advising appointments must be scheduled (not walk-in), but it may be conducted in person, online, or by phone.
      • MS (Thesis Option): You are required to meet with me once each year (Spring and Fall semesters).
      • PhD: You are required to meet with me once each year (Spring semester).
      • MS-NTO (Non-thesis Option): You are required to meet with me once each semester (Fall, Spring, and Summer).

Walk-in Advising

  • Walk-in advising is available every Tuesday and Wednesday morning.
      • However, this is subject to availability around previously scheduled appointments.

Graduation Advising

  • You must schedule a final, graduation advising appointment one semester before the semester in which you are planning to graduate.
      • This appointment can be completed online, or in-person.
