Dr. Seabury is a native of West Virginia and completed her undergraduate education with a BS in Animal Science at West Virginia University in 2001. She graduated with a PhD in genetics from Texas A&M University in 2005. She spent 5 years as a laboratory supervisor and postdoctoral fellow engaged in comparative genomic research, during which time she received a prestigious USDA Postdoctoral Research Fellowship. The experiences she gained during her postdoc in grantsmanship, research compliance, teaching, and mentorship shaped her decision to pursue a career in higher education administration.
In 2010, she accepted a position as Program Coordinator for Research and Graduate Studies in the Texas A&M School of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences. In 2014, she was promoted to Program Manager for Research and Graduate Studies. In these administrative positions, Dr. Seabury has focused on creating opportunities for professional development and non-didactic educational experiences for graduate students. Most recently, her unit has reorganized the Biomedical Sciences Graduate Program to focus on the students’ educational experience and centralized the college’s graduate advising under the Office of Research & Graduate Studies.
While much of her work focuses on graduate studies, she is also passionate about research and assisting the college’s faculty in being as successful as they can be by coordinating internal grant programs, managing the college’s research space assignments, and serving as a liaison with the Office of Biosafety and Compliance and Sponsored Research Services.
Outside of work, Ashley enjoys spending time with her husband, Chris, and 2 children, Wyatt and Brooke. She loves “fancy coffee” from Starbucks, pedicures, and reading a good book! Her favorite part about her job is empowering graduate students to see all the opportunities their graduate degree can afford them and helping them work toward their goals!
