CE Partners with TEVA to Offer Online Courses

The Texas A&M Continuing Education (CE) office has partnered with the Texas Equine Veterinary Association (TEVA) to offer interactive online continuing education starting in 2018.

For the web-based courses, participants who register online are introduced to a case, either through TEVA’s Remuda publication or the Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences’ (CVM) CE Office, and following a period of discussion, participate in a live, online interactive session.

After the activity, a summary of the case and discussions will be posted in the following TEVA Remuda issue and in the CE Office website. CE credit is offered for each course for registered participants.

The first continuing education courses were on equine endocrinology, presented in March by Dr. Michelle Coleman, Texas A&M assistant professor of large animal internal medicine; and on heart murmurs, presented in April by Cris Navas, a clinical assistant professor of large animal internal medicine.

“Everything going well. We have nearly 100 registrants in the current course abut murmurs,” Navas said. “We have learned a lot since the first course; posting the course in a Facebook group called ‘Equine Vet-2-Vet Collaborative Continuing Education’ was important. Everybody seems happy with the courses.”

Upcoming interactive, online courses include a session on wobbler syndrome/cervical vertebral malformation and sonograms of horses with colic.

Participants need a computer, phone or tablet with internet access, a microphone, and camera to participate.
