The Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences (VMBS) and VetRec, an industry-leading veterinary AI assistant, have teamed up to enhance clinical efficiency, patient care, and veterinary education at the VMBS’ Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital (VMTH).

Through this collaboration, VMTH faculty, interns, residents, and students will use VetRec’s AI-driven platform to streamline medical documentation, automate medical note creation, and enhance workflow efficiency, improving record-keeping accuracy and, ultimately, enhancing clinical operations. By reducing administrative burdens, the technology enables veterinary professionals to focus more on patient care while ensuring accurate, comprehensive records.

“Integrating AI into our clinical environment represents a significant and potentially transformative step forward,” said Dr. Stacy Eckman, associate dean for hospital operations and chief executive officer of the VMTH. “VetRec’s platform will help optimize workflow efficiency while giving our veterinarians more time to focus on what matters most — providing exceptional patient care.”

The VMTH is a vital training ground for veterinary students that delivers high-quality, specialized patient care. Leveraging VetRec’s technology will also allow the VMTH to provide students with hands-on experience using next-generation tools.

“Artificial intelligence is rapidly reshaping veterinary medicine, and this relationship positions Texas A&M at the forefront of that transformation,” said Dr. Audrey Cook, a VMBS professor. “VetRec’s technology will enhance the way we document cases, communicate with clients, and manage medical histories, all while maintaining the highest standard of care.”

The AI assistant can generate precise, custom-made medical notes and discharge letters in seconds; quickly summarize up to 1,500 pages of patient history; and seamlessly integrate with leading cloud- and server-based personal information management systems.

This collaboration builds on VetRec’s growing network of preeminent veterinary academic institutions.

“Our priority is to empower veterinary professionals by equipping them with tools that enhance efficiency and improve patient outcomes,” said Kevin Cohen, co-founder and chief executive officer of VetRec. “Collaborating with Texas A&M University’s College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences, one of the country’s leading veterinary institutions, further reinforces our commitment to transforming veterinary medicine through AI-driven solutions.”
