Stress: Scientist Videos

Within this section, the learner will:

  • Explore how scientists use their understanding of the nervous and endocrine systems and homeostasis in their research, careers, and other areas of science.

Stress and How to Overcome It

Going to school can be stressful. Social problems, difficult learning tasks, taking tests, just being a teenager: all create stress. In this presentation by Dr. Bill Klemm, a Texas A&M scientist who studies the brain, we will consider what stress is and how it affects the body and mind. Most important, we will consider ways for coping with and reducing school stress.

Homeostasis and Feedback

In this video you are going to explore homeostasis with the Amoeba Sisters and learn how homeostasis relates to feedback in the human body. They will talk about the different types of feedback and how it all works together to maintain homeostasis.

What is a Reflex Arc?

In this video you are going to look at the pathway of a reflex arc and why our bodies are able to automatically respond to a pain stimulus.

Central Nervous System

In this video you are going to see a break down on our nervous system, how it works, and how the brain controls it all.

Peripheral Nervous System

In this video you are going to take a look at your peripheral nervous system, its afferent and efferent divisions, how it processes information, the reflex arc, and what your brain has to say about pain.
