Title: Bubblegum Breakdown
Objective: Test the hypothesis that the mass of bubblegum changes when it is chewed.
Materials: 1 piece of Bubblegum per student
1 paper cup per student

Procedure:
Write your name on the outside of one paper cup. Measure the mass of the
paper cup using the mass scale.
Unwrap one piece of gum and place it in a paper cup. (Dont chew it yet!) Please throw the wrapper in the trash.
Measure the mass of the gum and paper cup using the mass scale.
Calculate the mass of the gum by itself.
Chew the piece of gum for about 15 minutes.
Put the gum back in the paper cup and measure the mass of the gum and the paper cup again.
Calculate the mass of the gum by itself.
Place the gum in the paper cup and set it on the counter to be left over night.
Calculate the mass of the gum by itself (the next day).
