Evaluation of E26 Transformation-Specific Sequence Variant 1 (ETV1) as an in-situ Hybridization Target for Canine Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumors.
Residency research project                                                                                   2019-2021                          Ithaca, NY, USA
Project using biopsy FFPE samples from Cornell’s archive with the goal of evaluating ETV1 as an ISH target for canine GISTs. Preliminary results have been reported in a poster during 2020’s ACVP online meeting.

Evaluation of the frequency of Brachyspira pilosicoli, B. hyodysenteriae, and B. intermedia in laying and broiler hens in the Paraná state through selective culture and PCR-RT.
Federal research scholarship recipient                                                                2016 -2017                          Palotina, PR, Brazil
Obtained field samples from broiler and laying flocks in different towns in the western region of the Paraná state. We necropsied and collected samples from 140 birds. Selective media was used to culture Brachyspira spp. from intestinal swabs, followed by PCR-RT for species identification in the positive cultures. Project funded by the Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico (National Council for Scientific and Technologic Development; CNPq).

Diagnosis of Brachyspira pilosicoli, B. hyodysenteriae, and B. intermedia in laying and broiler hens in the Paraná state using fluorescence in-situ hybridization (FISH).
Volunteer researcher                                                                                           2017 - 2018                         Palotina, PR, Brazil
Follow-up project with the purpose of establishing a FISH protocol for B. pilosicoli, B. hyodysenteriae, and B. intermedia in chickens, comparing results of PCR-RT and FISH. Project funded by the Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico (National Council for Scientific and Technologic Development; CNPq).
