Biography
"I serve as a Clinical Professor in VSCS at the CVM. I have 2 major roles: to oversee the telehealth program in the SVM and to teach in Primary Care Services, though those responsibilities were reduced while I served as the President of the American Veterinary Medical Association. In this role, I was able to advance telehealth overall in the profession, and I was able to highlight TAMU, and academia in general, in the veterinary profession. The generous donation I received from Petco Love has been well-utilized to continue the access-to-care project in collaboration with Bastrop County Cares. Along with faculty, staff and students from Primary Care, we go to Bastrop every month to provide veterinary care to pets owned by senior citizens with limited financial resources. In between our visits, we use telemedicine to follow up, as needed. This has been a wonderful learning opportunity for students. I continue to serve as a mentor to students and junior faculty and as an advisory board member for the Stevenson Companion Animal Life-Care Center. I was named as a Founding Faculty Fellow for TAMU’s Telehealth Institute as well. In addition, I was elected as the Canine/Feline Regent to the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners and subsequently elected as the Regent at-large to the ABVP Board of Directors."
