Schubot Center presence in the 2022 Awards from the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Science

The Schubot Center is delighted to announce the recipients of the 2022 Schubot Director’s award and the 2022 Kaytee Avian and Special Species Excellent Award.

The Schubot Director’s award recognizes an undergraduate, graduate, or veterinary student Schubot Member who has demonstrated research excellence on topics related to the health, conservation, genetics, or related topics pertaining to wild, exotic, or pet birds and/or has contributed to the mission and operations of the Schubot Center for Avian Health.  This year’s awards went to Viridiana Martinez a Ph.D. student from Ecology and Conservation Biology under Dr. Jacquie Grace and Ty Tortella, a 3rd-year veterinary student.

The Kaytee Avian and Special Species Excellent Award recognizes a fourth-year veterinary student for demonstrating excellence in companion bird medicine and surgery. This year’s award went to Amanda Day.

Viridiana, Tay, and Amanda received their award next to the other 60 recipient fellows that were part of the 2022 Honors & Awards ceremony on March 25thorganized by the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Science here in Texas A&M University, College Station.

We are extremely proud to have these three students as part of the Schubot Center family.
