Dr. Meredith Anderson featured in UTMB One Health Newsletter: Pesticide Exposure in Birds, Public Health Impact

We’re very proud to share that Schubot Center PhD student Dr. Meredith Anderson, DVM, was recently featured in the One Health Newsletter published by the University of Texas Medical Branch. In the interview, Meredith shared how her passion for avian species and wildlife health inspired her to work on a PhD on birds and decided to focus on the impacts of neonicotinoid pesticide exposure on birds.

Dr. Anderson’s research highlights the importance of a One Health approach and how interconnected are health of humans, animals, and ecosystems. Her work not only advances our understanding of environmental toxicology in avian species but also raises important questions about how pesticide exposure could ripple through ecosystems and ultimately affect human communities.

We’re especially proud that the Schubot Center, including our BSL-2 aviary facilities, has played a central role in supporting her research program.

Congratulations to Dr. Anderson on this well-deserved recognition!
