If pet owners are unable to enter the VMTH exam room, with VirtualVets, pet owners can virtually
sit in on their pet’s exams from their car, ask questions in real-time, and talk to their pet.

VirtualVets is the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital (VMTH) telemedicine program offering visits and consultations with clinicians and specialists via live video interaction for clients and referring veterinarians.

The Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital (VMTH) is proud to offer VirtualVets visits for consultations with referring veterinarians, as well as for clients and patients who have an existing Veterinary-Client-Patient-Relationship (VCPR) with the VMTH, using the VetNOW virtual care platform.

VirtualVet visits and referring veterinarian consultations are available by scheduled appointment only.

For Clients

For VirtualVets appointments with clients, VMTH clinicians and specialists can use visits, when appropriate, for rechecks and follow-up appointments, such as after a spay or neuter procedure, after treating wounds or skin infections, to help with some behavioral problems, client education, and many other issues.

VirtualVets visits can also help owners decide if a concern about your animal is serious enough to warrant a visit to the VMTH or if it is something we can help you manage at home.

Before you can use the VirtualVets program, you and your pet must have a standing VCPR with the VMTH and must have had at least one in-person VMTH visit.

For Referring Veterinarians

General practitioner referring veterinarians can use VirtualVets to consult with our specialists when additional input and support are needed to aid in patient care, when travel to the VMTH may not be feasible, or when a client wants confirmation that a referral is truly the best option for the patient’s health and care.

Veterinarians receive a written report summarizing the consultation and possible recommendations following each consultation.
