The Animal Genetics Laboratory offers DNA testing used for identification, parentage verification, and determination of specific homozygous/heterozygous gene mutations in animals. The analysis provides useful information for diseases, coat colors, as well as physical traits. Currently, the lab provides routine services for testing horses, cattle, and donkeys.

The Molecular Cytogenetics Laboratory at Texas A&M University performs a wide range of cytogenetic, molecular cytogenetic, and DNA-based testing for clinical and research facilities, private companies, veterinarians, breeders, and animal owners. Services include karyotyping, fluorescent in situ hybridization (FISH), and genotyping.
