About the Positions
The Department of Veterinary Pathobiology (VTPB) at Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences (VMBS) invites applications for two Veterinary Resident positions in Anatomic Pathology that will begin on July 1, 2027. The three-year program fulfills the eligibility requirements for the American College of Veterinary Pathology (ACVP) certification examination, and the program has an outstanding record of residents becoming ACVP diplomates.
Training in diagnostic pathology is based on case material from the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital (VMTH) and supplemented with a wide variety of weekly rounds and seminars.
Residents take graduate coursework during the residency and meet the requirements for a MS (non-thesis) degree by the end of the residency. Coursework could instead be applied toward a MS (thesis) or PhD degree. Sources of potential post-residency PhD stipend support include an NIH T32 institutional training grant.
About the Department and College
VTPB has approximately 40 faculty members with diverse backgrounds and research interests, which provides a stimulating environment and many exciting opportunities for research training. VMBS research emphasis areas and graduate curricular training tracks include:
- biomedical genomics and bioinformatics,
- diagnostics and therapeutics,
- infection, immunity, and immunology,
- physiology and developmental biology, and
- toxicology & environmental health.
Training Opportunities
Research training opportunities are also available at the Texas A&M College of Medicine. Diagnostic services in dermatopathology, gastrointestinal/liver pathology, and renal pathology offer additional unique training opportunities.
About the Area
The Bryan-College Station area (population of more than 285,000) offers a culturally diverse college-town atmosphere, a relatively low cost of living, and convenient access to Houston, Austin, San Antonio, and Dallas-Fort Worth.
Salary and Benefits
The salary is $45,000/yr with tuition coverage, medical/retirement benefits, and travel support to regional and national meetings.
Qualifications
Applicants must have a DVM or equivalent degree. Please note that VTPB will not sponsor applicants for H-1B or E-3 non-immigrant employee categories.
