VMBS International Travel Awards

General Information

  1. Applications should be submitted at least 2 months before intended travel in order to be reviewed at the quarterly International Program Advisory Committee (IPAC) Meeting. If the applications are submitted closer than 2 months to your departure date, the committee will not review the applications.
  2. If your application is approved but for some reason you cannot go on the trip, there is no penalty. Just contact the IPAC Chair and the International Programs Coordinator and inform them that you are not going.
  3. International Program Advisory Committee Meetings are usually held in
    • September
    • December
    • March
    • June

VMBS Independent Travel Abroad Award (for Students)

Please send completed application to IPAC Chair, Jan Suchodolski (jsuchodolski@cvm.tamu.edu).

Deadline: Applications should be submitted at least 2 months before intended travel in order to be review at the next quarterly International Program Advisory Committee Meeting. Applications will be accepted until all available funding has been awarded.

Purpose: Texas A&M University and the School of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences are committed to helping students access career enhancing opportunities in an international setting. To this end, students may apply for awards to help offset travel expenses. Generally, the stipends are a maximum of $1000.

The application deadline will remain open until all awards have been granted.

In order to qualify and receive this scholarship, the following stipulations apply:

  • Students must have a Texas A&M VMBS faculty mentor to help them with their international plans; this mentor must sign their award application. If you need help finding a faculty mentor, please talk to International Programs; we may be able to help you.
  • Students must register their trip through the Texas A&M Education Abroad office.
  • Students must purchase international travel insurance through the Texas A&M contracted plan, which becomes available to the student once their registration process at Education Abroad is complete.
  • These awards are for travel for international work or study opportunities in veterinary medicine or related biomedical sciences but NOT to attend international conferences.
  • The awards are NOT for existing faculty-led/group study abroad programs.

VMBS Faculty Travel Award for New International Program Development

Purpose: Limited competitive awards (4) up to $3,750 are available for international travel to support new programs that will enhance the School of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences’ international opportunities through research collaboration, study abroad, or international development.
