Niya
Niya completed her undergraduate studies at Texas A&M, where she majored in Biomedical Sciences. She is now a second-year veterinary student. Originally from Canada, she spent her childhood in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains before moving to Texas in 2006. Throughout her undergraduate years, she was involved in several extracurricular activities, including rushing Delta Gamma, joining the Aggie Dance Team, participating in SAIL (Sophomores Advancing In Leadership), and Christian Women in Medicine. She has always been passionate about veterinary medicine, but her dedication to the field deepened after working in rural communities across the Brazos Valley. There, she witnessed firsthand the critical need for veterinary outreach in small towns across Texas. Her hands-on experience included working with large animals, small animals, and exotics. In her free time, Niya enjoys hunting, fishing, wakesurfing, and spending time with her mini goldendoodle, Camp. After graduation, she plans to pursue a career in emergency veterinary medicine and eventually open her own mobile practice in Austin, Texas.
